Below is a list of exam resources that I have
used or reviewed. I am going to review more CFA study materials and expand the
following list in the future.
1. SchweserNotes
I will give SchweserNotes the biggest credit
for passing my CFA exams. The SchweserNotes is offered by Kaplan
Scheweser, which is a school of professional education founded in the 1990s.
Kaplan Scheweser initially started with CFA offerings and gradually expand into
other financial exams (eg. CFP, FRM, etc.) over the years.
The basic package for
CFA level exam costs USD 379. The package consists of SchweserNotes (5 books
covering the entire CFA curriculum), 3 practice exams, etc. Materials in the
ScheweserNotes are easy for readers to follow and are presented in the same
sequence as the official curriculum. Problem sets in the end of each chapter
are also useful. Readers who thoroughly understand the SchweserNotes materials
and complete all 3 practice tests will be well-equipped for the CFA exams.
Quality: 9/10
Comprehensiveness: 9/10
Price: 8/10
Readability: 8/10
For more details on the package, you can visit
the Scheweser official website
2. 300Hours.com
300Hours.com is a website founded by a group
of dedicated CFA charterholders. What I find most useful about 300Hours.com is
its advice on how to strategically plan your CFA study sessions. A lot of
people under-estimate the importance of a good study plan - but in fact,
considering the enormous amount of materials and the diversified knowledge
areas presented in the curriculum, an effective study plan is going to give you
a significant competitive advantage.
300Hours.com also features external study
materials / prep courses on CFA exams (eg. Schweser, Fitch Learning,
Bloomberg Exam Prep, Wiley, etc.)
Quality: 8/10
Comprehensiveness: NA
Price: 9/10 (Free to USD 19 for exam advice)
Readability: 8/10
For more details on the offerings, you can
visit the 300Hours official website.
